Starting Over: My Rollercoaster Journey

As of today it's been exactly 3 years since my last YouTube video. I’m happy to be back creating. Long overdue, but happy to be back. Life was lifing, it threw me plenty of curveballs.

Starting Over: My Rollercoaster Journey

I want to share this analogy around mountain climbing with you:

Picture this: You're on a journey to climb a big mountain. You've poured your heart and soul into climbing it, dedicating your life climbing it. You get let's say two-thirds of the way, you're still really high up, you can smell the top, you're basically almost there. But then, just when you're so close, you hit a dead end. There is no path for you to continue forward. To reach the peak, you have to go back down to the bottom of the mountain and look for new path. Being forced to start the adventure all over again, who wants to do that? It's tough to face the idea of starting from scratch after coming so far.

These words perfectly sum up my journey over the last couple of years. A rollercoaster of climbings, descending and starting from zero. It has been one humbling ride.

The Rollercoaster Journey

As of today it's been exactly 3 years since my last YouTube video. I’m happy to be back creating. Long overdue, but happy to be back. Life was lifing (!!!), it threw me plenty of curveballs.

It all started during COVID in 2020, Me and a group of friends had an event company in East Africa, we were on our way to Kenya and Rwanda to organise our next range of events. Little did we know the pandemic would have the last laugh. At that time there were no registered cases of COVID in both countries, so we thought, no worries, business as usual. After being in Kenya for a week, boom, the first case got announced.

We ended up getting stuck in Kenya due to the airspace shutting down, in the midst of the chaos we had the time of our lives, but business-wise I ended up hitting rock bottom a few months after. Bankruptcies, freelancing gigs down the drain, and I had to find my way back into the job market.

This was my "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger"- moment.

Reflection and Learning

While I was going down my mountain, I realised that I’ve learned so much in the last few years, I kinda took for granted how many amazing experiences and lessons I've gathered over the last 10 years or so, but I hadn't actually taken the time to sit down, to reflect and summarise my learnings. I always found myself in GO-mode or survival mode. Time flew by, and now, here I am recording my third YouTube video 3 years after the last one. But I found beauty in this though, I found beauty in starting over.

What Can You Expect

Now my content creation journey started with a mission—to share the insights I gathered along the way while doing business and working on the continent. That mission has only grown stronger. My Africa journey started in 2017 and since then I almost spent every year on the continent. Now I'm back in Belgium, working full time, but still I'm still connected to Africa. Allways will be.

Moving forward, I'll be diving into practical tips on building and investing in Africa for anyone that is juggling a full-time job, studies or even parenthood. I'm personally not rushing the process of building another business. I'm literally starting from zero again, and I'll be taking you with me.

📣
I am not here to sell you an overnight success story.

What I hope to bring to the table is real life experience—Because building something meaningful takes time, effort, and a fair share of resilience. And it might sound crazy, but I'm only coming to that realization now.
